Athletics
East Inc. was
established in 1994 by the merger of three clubs in the Eastern Suburbs
of Sydney. This merger brought together one of the oldest clubs in
NSW with a tradition dating back to 1901 and the enthusiasm and innovating
ideas of the two younger clubs. Athletics East’s home ground is Sydney Athletics Field at Kensington where club training is held all year round.
The athletic season consists
of a winter road and cross country competition (April- September) and a
summer track and field competition (October - March). These competitions
involve weekly graded inter-club meets, as well as state and national
championship events. Athletics East has teams entered in all grades of the
Athletics NSW competitions, from the lower recreational grades through to the
elite ‘A’ Competition.
Membership
of the club ranges from school age to veterans. Membership has increased
steadily every year. The club has strong associations with local little
athletics centres, triathlon clubs, the NSW Veterans Club and is affiliated
with Athletics NSW.
Athletics
East Inc. offers' members more than just access to competition. The club is
about friendships, personal achievement, enjoyment, competition and
recreation. We are a progressive, forward thinking organization that aims to
provide a unique fitness and social experience for all individuals.
