AE excels at XC relays and Long Course championships

Two events on two beautiful winter days produced noteworthy medal performances from all that donned the purple and green.XC relaysMen 40 – 49This team produced a well earned bronze medal performance. Chamkaur and Dan set the team up with solid first and second leg runs. Naomi and Rebecca running exceptionally well to help the team achieve the 3rd place result.Men 50 – 59Run away gold medalists with strong performances from Mark Gregory, Philip Balnave, Ken Wilson and Peter Sweeny.Men 60-59Campbell Dawson and Keith Bateman ran very strong first and second legs placing the team first at handover. Wayne Cooper suffered hamstring issues on his second lap but courageously kept team in second place on hand over. Coach Pete could not hold off the fast finishing Hills quartet bringing the team home in bronze medal position.08_Cross Country Relays Results

Nowra XC Long CourseAE only fielded two teams both of which were in 50-59 category.Two teams, two remarkable team performances.A team – when team members finish in overall race positions 2nd, 3rd, 4th and you guessed it 5th it is impressive and impossible to finish anywhere other than in a golden position. Peter Sweeny booted away early and just kept the hammer down showing great strength. Mark Gregory, Chamkaur Dhaliwal and Keith Bateman were constantly switching places testing each other like prizefighters. The end result was same time for Mark and Chammy and only 4 seconds back to Keith.This team also boasted 1st , 2nd and 3rd in the individual 50-54 age group + Keith 1st 65-59 age groupB team – Darren Purcell running at well less than 100% due to a knee injury was first B team member home. Ken Wilson and Philip Balnave followed and Wayne Cooper after a week of cold/flu symptoms completed the course and podium finished third in both the 65-69 individual age group and 50+ team event.
