The ANSW half marathon was the final winter series race this season. Over a 3 lap course at Homebush and held in almost perfect conditions the stage was set for our male over 50 team to battle out first or second place in the championship table. Peter Sweeny was flying and even though he mistakenly ran at least 600m more by taking a wrong turn still finished 3rd overall in his division. Without that mishap he would have been challenging for first place line honours as he was only 1:39secs behind actual first place. Chamkaur D settled into the run with the returning from sickness Mark G. Chammy finished his longest run for quite some time and the courageous finish from Mark followed. Philip Balnave completed the team with a strong run. Bron was first female and may have been too fast for two laps, this made the last lap tough however it will be good training going into the Melbourne Marathon. Rebecca had a great run and like Chammy also finished her longest run. Following her successful runs at the Oceania Masters Games (1500 & 5km) Naomi made her way around the course safely. Great to see Martin Cosby don the AE singlet and finished well even though he suffered cramps twice during the event. Lewis Lau unfortunately came down with a viral infection and could not run. A big run from Zi, who is an AE community member, to unofficially break the 80min mark for a big PB. Zi missed the start of his race and his official time is from the start of the A race.15_Half Marathon
