ANSW Track Relays, SOPAC – Saturday 20th November 2021

After a year’s absence due to COVID the track relays went ahead in 2021, three AE teams took to the track and it was as though they had never left. Three exceptional performances produced an unexpected three gold medals. Due to the constraints of COVID in regard to training and racing most had no lead in races to fine tune however this didn’t affect the performances on the day. We had three track relay debutants in Dan Brooks, Keith Bateman and Wayne Cooper who shows incredible versatility over all distances and was well worth his shiny gold medal.

Great to see Chamkaur Dhaliwal back on track after a couple of disruptive years of training and racing. Campbell Dawson, whose son was the subject of a COVID scare, was thankfully given the all clear to run. Jimmy and Darren running similarly to how they ran in the 3km champs the previous weekend, both performed solidly and are physically looking good for the track season ahead. Good to see Ken Wilson out there after managing an injury for so long, did what was needed in the 800 and backed up well creating the platform for the 1500 team.

Great running using their wealth of racing experiences enabled Keith, Ken, Darren & Chamkaur to double up into the 1500.
