Another perfect winter’s day greeted competitors at the Long Course Cross Country Championships, held at the stunning Willandra Farm in Nowra. Sunshine and a refreshing breeze provided ideal conditions for a great day of racing.
Xavier was the first of our athletes in action, contesting his first individual race of the winter season for the club. He produced an outstanding performance, executing his race plan almost perfectly to finish second in his age group.
The 50+ women’s event followed, with AE dominating a small field to comfortably win the team gold. Rebecca and Naomi both secured podium finishes, continuing the club’s strong start to the day.
The 40+ women’s team then delivered another commanding performance, claiming team honours with Bronwyn, Rona and Cindy all finishing on the podium. A special mention goes to Stephanie and Robyn, who stepped in at short notice to ensure their respective teams could compete.
During a break in the championship races, Benson and Peter G represented the club in the Family Fun Run, adding to the day’s community spirit.
The 50+ men’s team continued the club’s golden run by claiming another team title. Mark and Darren both produced excellent performances, each finishing second in their respective age groups.
The final club athlete to take on the course was Charlie Naughton, making his cross-country debut for the club in the Under-15 4 km event. Charlie finished strongly to place 13th overall, capping off a promising first appearance.
Overall, it was an excellent day for the club, with outstanding individual performances, multiple team victories and plenty of podium finishes. Congratulations to everyone who represented the club at Willandra Farm.13_Long Course
